Hi, i’m Jessica De La Torre

I’m a California-based video storyteller with a focus on short-form content for digital media and television. I’m passionate about creating authentic, impactful stories that connect with diverse audiences. I’ve had the opportunity to work with creative agencies, political campaigns, and independent filmmakers, honing my ability to craft compelling narratives across a range of platforms.

Currently, I’m a contracted Associate Producer for Define American with Jose Antonio Vargas, a podcast exploring immigration and the American experience. My focus is on producing viral, engaging vertical videos to grow the podcast’s presence across social media. Additionally, I support production and archival needs for the show and curate impactful snippets to maximize engagement and drive traffic to full episodes on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.

Previously, I served as the Creative Coordinator at Thematic Campaigns, where I wrote bilingual scripts and sourced voice-over talent for ads broadcast nationwide, aired on radio, and shared across digital platforms.

In addition to my commercial work, I’m involved in longer-form freelance projects funded through individual grants and fellowships. Through these projects I seek to make meaningful and impactful work. I was recently awarded the 2024 Renaissance Journalism LaunchPad Fellowship, which will support an in-depth investigation focused on environmental justice, gender, and labor rights.

I hold a master’s degree from UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, where I specialized in short-form video storytelling, and I earned my bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a minor in International Relations from San Francisco State University.
